Foot Pain

What is foot pain?

Foot pain describes any sensation of pain or discomfort that is felt in the foot or surrounding area. Foot pain in children often presents as heel pain, although it may present anywhere. If your child is complaining of foot pain, come and visit one of our podiatrists who will be able to assess your child and establish the cause of his/her pain. Once the cause has been established an appropriate treatment plan can be designed.


What causes foot pain?

Foot pain in children has many causes. The site of your child's foot pain may be an indication as to the cause, for example:


Heel pain

  • Severs Disease
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Haglunds deformity

Mid foot pain

  • Kohlers disease

Forefoot pain

  • Metatarsal stress fracture
  • Ill-fitting footwear
  • Toe deformities
  • Weight

Arch pain

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Ill-fitting footwear
  • Weight

What should I do if my child has foot pain?

If your child has foot pain it is important to have the cause investigated. Our podiatrists will assess and examine your child's foot in order to establish the cause, so that an appropriate treatment plan can be devised.
